Pumpkin Patch

We had a great time at the pumpkin patch this year. My parents came with us and it was fun! We got to see lots of bright orange pumpkins and Alyssa got to walk through the patch. We didn't do the hay ride or the corn maze this year, she just had fun taking it all in. We ended up buying her a tiny little pumpkin that is SO cute. When we got home she kept trying to throw the pumpkin because she thought it was a ball!

Sorry we haven't updated in awhile! Alyssa is growing like a weed. She has been having a lot of fun lately. She can take about 6 or 7 steps, but wont go much further than that. She also mimics everything that we say and is starting to say a lot of words. We call her miss congeniality because she says "hi" and "bye bye" to everyone she meets! Just today she was trying to talk to everyone in the restaurant where we were eating dinner. Little miss friendly! :)

Baby Fever!

We wanted to share a picture of our upcoming addition to our family. Michael, Alyssa, and I are all excited to be welcoming another baby girl into our family on January 4th! We just had our ultrasound last week. This is the best picture we got. You can see her hand and she is laying on her right side facing you. She seems to be all snug and cozy in there. We are glad to hear that she is growing well and everything is looking good. We are tossing around name ideas. The front runner right now is Hailey Ann Lomax. (although the spelling might be Hailey, Hayley, or Haley...we will see!) :) We are excited to meet our little girl in January!

The Amazing Bouncing Alyssa!

Alyssa is moving out of the baby stage and turning into a little girl before our eyes. She is getting so big that we can hardly believe it. We love to watch her learn new things. Number One Baby!

Alyssa is number one! :) She has recently begun pointing a lot and this is a good shot of it. As I mentioned in my last post, she often holds her finger in the pointing position so that she is ready for anything she may need to point at. It is so adorable. We are trying to teach her to point at us when we say, "Who is the number one mommy?" Alas.....it hasn't worked yet. :)

9 Months!

Alyssa is already 9 months old and time feels like it is flying by. She is getting so big, so fast! :) She had her 9 month doctor check up last week and got a clean bill of health. She is in the 99.9 percentile for her height and the 99 percentile for her weight. She is a good eater. Some new things she is doing are: saying 'dada,' mimicking sounds that you make, making kissing noises, clapping, holding her hands up in the air to show that she is 'so big!' and pointing at everything in sight. It seems as if she just holds her pointer finger out all of the time just in case there may be something to point at. :) She really is getting SO BIG! Here are a few recent pictures of her.

Lately she has been trying lots of new foods. She loves pancakes, spinach, chicken, cheese, pasta, cheerios, squash, beans, corn, peas, carrots...basically anything! :)

Alyssa is at such a fun age right now. We are just enjoying watching her learn and grow. She is constantly changing. Her latest accomplishment is waving. She holds her hand up and makes a fist, then opens it up, and closes it again. When we say, "Wave hi," that is what she does. Fun, fun!

The video below is of her giggling. It is ADORABLE! :) It is so funny to see the things that she deems "giggle worthy." In this short clip all Michael is doing is throwing the TV remote up in the air and catching it. Definitely a gut buster! :)

We had a great first Christmas with Alyssa! She is growing so big and the changes she is making are incredible. In the last week she has become a pro at sitting up on her own. She loves to play with toys and hang out. She is an independent girl! She got this adorable tutu from her Nani this Christmas so we snapped a few shots!

Michael's parents (Nani and Pops) invited us to a children's Christmas party at their golf club. Alyssa got to meet santa! She is always such a happy baby and she seemed totally content hanging out on santa's lap. Of course she couldnt participate in the older kid activities, like the cupcake walk, but we got to have lunch and it was very fun! Here are her photos from the day:

It seems like every week we think we know what to expect, and then she does something new and different. It has been so much fun to watch her grow and learn. Lately she is really smiling and laughing a lot, kicking her legs around like crazy, grabbing at things, and putting things in her mouth and biting down on them....hard! We love you litttle goose!

4 Months Old!

Our growing girl just had her 4 month appointment last week. She weighs in at 17 lbs 15 ounces and is 26 and a half inches long. She is getting quite hilarious in her old age. She has certainly found her voice in the past few weeks and loves to use it. She "talks" all the time. She also loves to laugh and smile. It has been really fun to try eating rice cereal. It took a little getting used to, but last night she ate almost a whole bowl! She seems to like it, but it takes awhile because she is constantly trying to grab the spoon from me! We love you angel!

We took Alyssa over to Uncle Clay and Aunt Jacqueline's house for Halloween. Auntie Jac and I took her around to about 5 houses for her first trick or treating experience. She was a trooper because she was tired by the time it got dark enough to go trick or treating. Here are a few pictures of our Halloween experience! :)

As you can see Alyssa is growing fast! :) I bought this adorable Halloween costume for her last year on clearance, but now we are not sure if it is going to fit by the time Halloween rolls around. It fits her pretty perfectly now! We thought we would take a picture now, just in case it doesn't fit later. She is such a happy baby. She smiles all of the time and I think she is on the verge of laughing! We love our little bug!

Our little girl is growing so fast! We cannot believe how different she is from when she was first born. Even this last week she has started smiling A LOT and really recognizing her surroundings. At her two month appointment she was 24 1/2 inches long and a whopping 14 1/2 pounds. She is a wonderful baby and we feel so blessed!

4 Weeks Old Already!

I can't believe our baby is already 4 weeks old! These weeks have flown by and she is growing like crazy. Here are a few pics from this week.

Bath Time! Alyssa has been enjoying her baths since we started filling up the tub with water instead of doing sponge baths.

Alyssa is growing like a weed! At her two week check up she weighed 8 pounds 10 ounces and she was 21 and 3/4 inches long! That means that she grew an inch and a half in just two weeks. We have been having a great time and we feel so blessed to have a healthy happy girl. She is very funny and we can already tell she is going to have a spunky personality. We have been lovingly calling her "goose" because she is a silly goose!

Here is a video of Alyssa's first few days. She has been such a wonderful baby so far. We keep thinking, "How did we get this lucky?" and we are wondering when she is going to get harder to raise. So far it has been a joy! We love her so much and she really has made our dreams come true. :)

Here we are hanging out at home! We were really excited to come home from the hospital. Luckily we only had to stay for one day. Alyssa is doing great so far. We just had her 48 hour check up and she is doing really well. We are such proud parents! We promise to post more pictures and some video eventually, but this is all we've got right now!

39 Weeks!

Wow! I cannot believe that my due date is only 1 week away! We are just waiting and anticipating the arrival of our baby girl. I am feeling very large and very ready to be done being pregnant! If Alyssa does not decide to come on her own, then I am scheduled to be induced at 11:45 pm on Thursday, July 8th. That is only a few days away and I am really excited. We can't wait to meet you Alyssa!!

Alyssa's Room

Alyssa's room is finally finished and we are so excited. My due date is only 3 weeks away so we are just in time. :) It turned out perfect and we are very proud of it. A special thank you to my parents and Michael's parents who helped out a lot with the room.

As you can see, the colors are pink and brown. We love our changing table and our awesome glider!

You'll notice that next to the rocker, Alyssa has her own little chair! That chair is from my great grandma. :)

Ok, seriously, check out how swollen my feet were this week! The problem is...it was MY fault! Here is the dilemma: Pregnant girl wants Kettle Salt and Pepper chips (oh so delicious), pregnant girl eats chips, pregnant girl gets gargantuan feet! Aside from the fact that it hurts a little bit, Mike and I could not stop laughing at them. After about 3 days it went away and my piggies are back to normal, but I still really want some chips. All of my girlfriends know how much I ADORE salt. You tell me, what's a pregnant girl to do??

32 Weeks!

Well, it seems Alyssa just keeps growing and growing. Which is a good thing right? :) The only downside is that I keep growing and growing! She should weigh about 4 pounds now and be about 19 inches long. I have my next doctor's appointment tomorrow so we will get to find out a little more there. Only 8 weeks left to go and we are VERY excited. My dad has been coming over recently to work on the nursery. The mural he is painting is gorgeous so far and I will put pictures up when it is totally finished. We can't wait! :)

Only 10 weeks to go! I am getting bigger and bigger every day! I still feel pretty good, but it is getting harder and harder to find a comfortable position to sleep in. We are really excited. I am sure these next 10 weeks are going to fly by.

We cannot believe how fast this past month has flown by. I posted 2 pictures this time because Michael says that you can see my belly a lot better in the tighter shirt! :) I like the pictures that we have taken in the same shirt every time because it is a direct comparison.

Alyssa is growing and moving around a lot. It is fun to be able to feel her move. Her kicks are getting more and more feisty every day. :) Michael has gotten to feel her move a few times. She now weighs about 2 pounds and her crown to rump length is a little over 9 inches. 98 days until the due date...we are under the 100 mark! Woo hoo!

22 Weeks and Name Change!

Wow, I cannot believe that these past 22 weeks have flown by so quickly. Things are going pretty smoothly so far (knock on wood). I have been pretty tired and a TAD emotional (like crying during a dog training show--those dogs were just so darn cute!), but other than that I have been doing great!

We are excited because we think we have settled on an official name! Alyssa Kay Lomax. We reserve the right to change it at any time, but we are pretty set. We have been calling her Alyssa and we are really excited about it. The baby room is coming along and I will put pictures up when it is totally finished.

We had a lot of fun this weekend picking out decor for our baby girl's room. Michael's mom found a great deal on a bedding set that is gorgeous. It is light pink and dark brown. See the picture above for the full set. I just got the picture online, it is not a real picture of our room. We didn't get everything in the set, but we got a lot of it. Once the room is done I will post a picture of what it really looks like. My dad is going to paint a mural on one of the walls, so I think that will be really special. Thanks dad!

We also had fun registering over the weekend. It was really fun, but it was also a really long day. We were exhausted by the end of it. We are getting so excited. I cannot believe I am already half way there! We recently had our 20 week doctor's appointment and everything looked good, so that is a blessing.

Now I just have to make it through report cards...

Baby Girl Lomax

Here are our most recent ultrasound pictures! We are so thrilled to find out that we are having a baby girl. The ultrasound technician said that everything looked great. She remarked that the baby has very cute feet. The ultrasound tech also told us that it looks like she has really long toes. I have a feeling she is going to be tall like her daddy! I'm afraid she won't have my super cute sausage toes. :) We are very excited and we feel so lucky that everything went well and everything looks normal. We love our baby girl!

18 Weeks!

The half way point is coming up soon. We are so excited. Monday, February 15th is our next doctor's appointment where we should be able to find out if we are having a boy or a girl. We can't wait! Here is my 18 week picture. It pretty much looks the same, but I think I have grown a little. It is a little bit freaky at first when you gain a pound in one week. I am getting used to it, but it is still strange! We are taking a picture each week, in the same clothes, standing in the same spot. Check back next week to find out if it is a boy or a girl. :)

16 Weeks!

I can't believe that I am already 16 weeks along. It feels great to be out of the yucky first trimester and feeling a bit better. I am not nautious like I was and I am even eating meat-WOO HOO! Michael is excited about that because during the first trimester just the thought of meat would make me sick, so he was a little worried that the baby was going to be a vegetarian.! :) I am starting to show a little bit, so I posted a 16 week picture. Look for a post in the next few weeks to find out if it is a girl or a boy!

Most of you probably already know this, but Michael and I are going to be parents. We are super excited. We have been trying for awhile now and I was so shocked to find out that I was actually pregnant, that I took a few more pregnancy tests than were actually necessary. :)

KITCHEN REMODEL!

Ok, I know I should have put these up long ago, but you have to cut me some slack because I don't have internet at my house! I will try to be better in the future. Michael did a lovely job of remodeling our kitchen, along with all of the flooring in the downstairs bathroom, hallway, and laundry room. The before and after pictures do not match up exactly, but they show the hideous laminate flooring and formica counter tops from before.

This summer has been great. It has flown by very quickly and there has been a TON going on. I am going to try and sum up with a few pictures from the last few weeks.

Michael and I had our one year anniversary on July 26! Yay. I am so lucky to be married to such a great guy!

My cousin Shelby got married on August first! She looked gorgeous of course. :)

I had to put a picture of my hair from Shelby's wedding. It was AWESOME!

Michael's sister Crystal and her husband Scott and their son Dylan came to visit. Isn't he cute?

Dylan loves remote controls!Today, August 16th, my baby brother Scott left for college. I am going to miss having him around. He is so great. He is going to be a Junior at WSU. Go Cougs!

I'm Old!

Ok, so I turned 25 yesterday. I know, old right? (I am just saying that to make all of you who truly are old mad!) Is it working? :) I have always thought of myself as young. I remember looking at people I knew who were 25 and thinking they were all grown up. I still don't feel all grown up myself. Weird. I have lived a quarter of a century. I have a great life, wonderful family, awesome job, amazing husband, what more could I ask for? Here's to 3 more quarters! :)

The look on Michael's face is because I have gotten 4 pairs of shoes for my birthday... :) I should put a post with them on here. They are beautiful!

The Joy of Gardening

Sorry about the cheesy title of this post, but I think it is funny that "The Joy of Gardening" is an actual brand. Couldn't they have come up with something shorter? Any who, I decided to take up gardening this year. I have no real experience with it except for remembering my mom's gardens from when I was younger. I am really excited so naturally the first thing that I did was go out and buy matching purple gardening gloves and clogs!

This is the view of the front of the garden. I have planted about half of the veggies so far. I have to wait a little longer until the danger of frost has passed. (I actually sound like I know what I am talking about don't I? Weird.)

When I first decided that I wanted to do a garden, Michael was excited too. On one of his days off he tilled and fenced the entire thing! He even made me this hand crafted sign. :) He is such a great husband.

Puppy??

Ok so our puppy has a problem. She will literally eat ANYTHING. And I mean ANYTHING! She's like a goat. The other day we gave her an entire bowl of salad and she devoured it. She has even eaten Michael's glasses. Seriously, she didn't even leave any bits of glass at all, she just ate it. No big deal. Oh, weird, there are some glasses, I might as well EAT them.

So over the weekend Michael worked outside a lot and picked up all of the garbage that Lexie has littered all over our property. We don't have garbage pickup because there is a dump nearby so we just store it up in some large garbage cans that are locked inside a fence. Michael spent a long time fixing all of the holes in the fence and cleaning everything up nicely. Last night I get the phone call. Lexie, somehow got into the garbage again and has strewn it throughout the yard. Let's just say that Michael was ticked. We love the dog, but sometimes we are not sure it is worth all the work. So if you are in the market for a puppy/goat, let us know. :)

MY FIRST HOME!

Ok, many of you know this already, but we are going to be on TV. Crazy huh? January 10th at 9:30 pm Michael and I will make our movie star debut on the show My First Home on TLC. Check it out if you get a chance. We are pretty nervous because they came to film us for 6 days straight and we are just sure they are going to put all of the embarrassing things that we said on the show! Watch out Hollywood, here we come!!!!! :) HAHA!

After we moved into our new house we decided that our dog U-joint needed a friend. The day we got Lexie (our new puppy) started out as any other day. It was a Saturday and we were just lounging around our house and relaxing. We had some errands to run so Michael suggested that we just go "look" at the humane society for a new dog. I said, "Ok, but we are just looking for fun right?" Lo and behold, two hours later we had picked out our new puppy and were taking her home. On the drive home Michael and I both admitted to each other that we had both really wanted a dog and knew that we would get one even though we kept saying we were just "looking." :) She is an adorable pit bull mix. Her and U-joint really like each other and play all the time. Here are a few pictures of Lexie:

On July 26, 2008 Michael and I were married at St. Joseph Catholic Parish in Vancouver, Washington. It was a beautiful and perfect day. Thank you to all who came to share in our wonderful day with us. We feel lucky to have such supportive and loving families and friends.
